About

Every month, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports employment growth by metropolitan statistical area (MSA). Many MSAs, however, are too large to be viewed as uniform in their economic development or job growth. Our own analysis suggests that many MSAs need to be subdivided in smaller economic agglomerations to yield useful information for small businesses. For example, local retailers often only serve a single zip code. We provide employment data at the zip code level to help them answer questions such as: Which sectors added the most jobs in my zip code? Did all sectors grow or only a few? Our monthly reports and interactive map allow users to navigate the data on their own, exploring the unique questions of their industry and locale. Moreover, our animations highlight these developments over time.
